Before i knew anything about clothes my mother bought me a blue oxford for my grade 8 graduation. Little did i know that my khakis / navy blazer / ralph lauren oxford was a classic american outfit, i was just excited that i got to wear a necktie with baseballs on it ( definitly not classic ! )
over the next 15 years i would repeatedly fall back on a classic oxford for many different occasions. I currently have a baby blue one that fits me a bit big but i like it with skinny black or dark blue jeans.
whether you're into kanye or phoenix ( pictured ) mixing standard prep school items with more exciting pieces is a great way to look cool but not too trendy.
denim shirts are cool . always have been , always will be.
yes, the wash is important , and it's wise to steer clear of any detailing ( prints / bedazzler etc ) but other than that it's a pretty foolproof item. wear it with jeans ( just make sure it's not the same shade ) or wear it with black / khaki / grey pants / skirt .
the more worn in the better in my opinion. for men think redford / newman and for women try something like the pic above. we have a couple in stock now and considering my devotion to them i imagine we'll be getting more in.
current listening : wild horses - rolling stones ( i love the mazzy star version of this as well, you should try and find it)
i've started wearing blazers and i'm hooked. wearing a blazer is the equivalent of having a shaved head, you just wake up and go. no thinking about it. wear it over a t shirt / v neck / polo / dress shirt.
i like mine on the smaller side and i guess the problem with the vintage stuff is finding one that fits in both the shoulders and the sleeves but i've come to embrace showing some wrist, that's what bracelets are for right?
for years i've read all kinds of fashion mags extolling the virtues of the navy blazer but i've waited till now to finally join the party.
we've got lots of blazers in the shop, both mens and womens. come in and try one on . you'll feel great and you might even get better service at the bank.
it's taken a month but i've finally gotten around to setting up a blog for the shop. i'll try to update it often with new stuff coming into the store, events, sales etc. i'd also like to start posting pictures of some of our fashionable customers wearing items they bought at the store. So don't be surprised if we ask to take your picture sometime while your shopping.
i'm going shopping this weekend so there will be lots of new stuff in the store next week. we will be CLOSED MONDAY for the holiday but open normal hours the rest of the week.
